Paris in September: What’s Emerging at Maison&Objet 2025
As Maison&Objet September 2025 draws to a close, the mood across Paris remains unmistakable: design is in motion, and the home - more than ever - is a living, shifting, deeply expressive canvas. This edition of the fair has been a powerful affirmation of creativity without borders, blending craftsmanship and technology, function and poetry, heritage and provocation.
True to its theme, "Welcome Home", the show invited us to rethink what home truly means in today's world. Curated by Amélie Pichard, the artistic direction brought a sense of raw intimacy and gentle rebellion. Her deliberately unfinished space - a “home without walls” - was less a display and more a living question. Foldable, multipurpose, and emotionally charged objects filled each imagined room, exploring flexibility, imperfection, and care as new markers of luxury.
A Home That Thinks, a Teapot That Dreams
At the heart of this season’s narrative was the evocative House-Teapot, a sculptural collaboration between ceramist Blumen and AI, symbolizing the future of creation itself. Not quite house, not quite object, not fully real, not entirely imagined, it stood as a metaphor for hybrid design practices, where the human touch meets algorithmic suggestion, and where beauty is no longer confined to static forms.
This visual manifesto echoed throughout the fair: in the textures, silhouettes, and materials that designers are embracing this season. From Studio Signature’s refined luxury to the radical juxtapositions seen in the Design District, a quiet revolution is underway, one that favors meaning over excess, and story over spectacle.
The Return of Emotion in Design
Emotion-driven objects dominated the scene, pieces that connect through memory, tactility, and mood. Whether in the Pattern Lab, where surfaces and prints spoke in rhythmic colour palettes, or among the Rug Square’s global collection of handcrafted textiles, the message was clear: we are designing not just for spaces, but for the human experiences within them.
Maison&Objet continues to establish itself as a collector of futures, where the next generation of design voices is not only showcased, but meaningfully integrated. The Future On Stage and Rising Talent Awards platforms proved essential viewing, offering fresh perspectives that challenge categories and redefine formality.
From Paris, With Intention
For those in search of inspiration beyond the trends, this edition of Maison&Objet felt like a love letter to intentional living. It encouraged slowing down, looking deeper, and surrounding ourselves with pieces that do more than decorate, they nurture. The interplay between playfulness and precision, between heritage and possibility, sets the tone not just for the season, but for a new chapter in interior culture.
As we return from Paris and carry this energy into our own creative practice, one thing is certain: the future of home is fluid, thoughtful, and deeply personal, and it's already taking shape.
